Ebola hoax costs woman $2,800

Well, she might have done it to get quicker treatment but she is quickly going to have to pay back $2,800 for causing panic in the community. A south Columbus woman has been fined for calling 911 and claiming her sister had Ebola. Paramedics descended on her home in hazmat suits for no reason, and Mayor Michael Coleman has announced how the city will be compensated.

Columbus woman pretended to have Ebola

A south Columbus woman called the police Thursday night and told them she had recently been to west Africa and was experiencing Ebola-like symptoms. She was taken to Wexner Medical Center, the health department rushed to her home, a team in hazmat suits showed up, a guard was stationed at her home, her home was lined with caution tape. Once she was being treated for a possible fever and was being asked questions, it was more than apparent that she didn’t have Ebola, and she hadn’t been to west Africa. The whole call had been a hoax. Officials have said she lied about having Ebola to have get faster treatment for a different illness.
