Central Ohio hospitals teaming up for Ebola

To prep for the possible threat of Ebola in Ohio, central Ohio has teamed up to create a plan of action if the disease does strike. Wexner Medical Center will receive the first five patients, the next five will go to OhioHealth hospital and the next five will go to Mount Carmel Health System. Those three hospitals will cycle the patients through (with the 16the person going back to Wexner Medical Center) so that Franklin Country hospitals can work in tandem to fight the disease. “We think this is the best strategy to meet the needs of the community,” said Dr. Andrew Thomas, Ohio State’s chief medical officer, the Dispatch reported. By divvying up the patients no hospital would bear the brunt of all the patients and a systematic plan for which patients would go where will help reduce chaos.
