Country bar brings some yeehaw to the Short North
Bodega owner Brian Swanson is bringing some honky tonk flavor to the Short North. Bristol Republic, a live music venue/full-service barbecue restaurant and bourbon bar, is set to open this spring at 1124 N. High St. (the former location of Basil).
With Smoked on High owner Max McGarity handling the BBQ, Bristol Republic will offer many familiar favorites such as smoked brisket, pork, sausages, ribs, and sausages. Bristol Republic’s dining approach will be full service, vs the grab and go style offered at Smoked on High.

On the bar side, bourbon and whiskey are the stars of the show. Bristol Republic’s lineup of brown liquors will even feature a house whiskey produced in partnership with Watershed Distillery.
The space has undergone a total transformation to accommodate this new concept. The formerly cozy restaurant has been opened up into a full venue complete with two bars, a stage for live music, and areas reserved for private events.
Bristol Republic will offer live entertainment every Thursday through Saturday night. The music plays on for brunch, which will run each Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
