After decades of waiting on the edge of your barstool, the news has finally arrived: Columbus’ oldest and biggest brewery is opening a taproom!

That’s right, Columbus Brewing Company will be opening its first brew bar at inside the brewery at 2555 Harrison Rd this summer.

“Are you sitting down?” asked CBC on Facebook. “We are excited to announce that we will finally be opening our taproom at the brewery this summer. Look for more information soon!”

According to Columbus Business First, the brewery has been promising its consumers a taproom on its bottles and in the Columbus Ale Trail passport for years. However, CBC’s commitment to quality beer and retail availability ultimately trumped its vision to expand.

That is, until now.

The taproom will be located in the front of the brewery where the building’s old tenant Hill Distributing housed its lobby, offices, and conference room. Demolition of the walls has already taken place and construction is currently underway.

The taproom will be 4,000 square feet with a patio and enough space between its table and bar seating to entertain about 130 beer enthusiasts. Though there will be fewer right when the bar opens, 24 Columbus Brewing beers will be on tap.

Columbus Brewing was originally founded in 1830 and was resurrected in 1988, making it central Ohio’s oldest brewery. Over the decades, many CBC brews have been adorn with awards including:

  • Bodhi: Great American Beer Festival 2014 Bronze medal winner in the American IPA categor
  • Creeper: Great American Beer Festival 2014 Gold medal winner in the Imperial IPA category.
  • Uncle Rusty: World Beer Cup 2014 Gold award winner in the Imperial Red category.
  • Summer Teeth: Great American Beer

CBC is also a big, boozy part of (614)’s Pizza & Beer Week!
