Senior driving: staying on the road—safely
The two groups that are usually the most scrutinized for their driving abilities rest on either end of the spectrum: teens and the elderly. Seeing an older driver on the road can at times be—well stressful. Wednesday about 100 elder-care leaders got together to discuss the safety issues that stem from older drivers at the wheel. The main points of the talk were programs to help drivers sharpen their skills, utilizing preexisting transportation and groups that would provide door to door transpiration for seniors. “I expect all of you to come up with plans that will work for your local neighborhoods, your local communities and the central Ohio issue. Our job is to take down any roadblocks that get in the way,” said Ohio Department of Aging Director Bonnie K. Burman at the meeting, according to the Dispatch.
