Roundabout we go with another construction project
UPDATE: Dublin’s plans for reconstructing Route 161 won’t halt traffic, but its $400,000 price tag might. The estimated money is in addition to the $7.8 million budgeted for the roundabout project which starts in March and will finish in June 2016. Another phase of the project, the realignment of Riverside Dr., will be done in October 2016. The completed project is estimated to cost $10.85 million and both phases are being funded by Dublin, with a portion of the Riverside Dr. being funded through a tax increment district.
Looks like the foreseeable traffic forecast for the city can be summed with one word: construction.
Previously Dec . 10, 2014
Dublin approved plans earlier this week to reconstruct Route 161 and Riverside Dr. The city plans to keep traffic flowing in all directions during construction, which will start in May. To do so, a single lane will open in both directions to help keep traffic moving until a roundabout is built in summer 2016. In addition to the roundabout, the City Council approved plans to create bypass lanes. The whole project should be finished by fall 2016.
Local businesses and residents are happy that the project will not affect traffic, while others, like myself, are wondering if these new roads will help Cbusers actually understand how a roundabout actually works.
