“F**king raghead b**ch!” Columbus woman claims racism at local stores
In a now-viral Facebook post, a Columbus resident shared two recent encounters where she claimed she was subjected to extreme verbal acts of racism in very public places around the city.
Cynthia Cox Ubaldo was leaving the Walgreens at 161 and Maple Canyon wearing hijab on August 4 when a white man she suspected to be in his 30s yelled, “F**king raghead b**ch! Go back to your sh**hole country!”
“I ignored him and quickly got in my car, locked the doors and sped away,” she wrote.
The next day, on August 5, yet another display of verbal, racially-driven abuse played out at the Kroger Marketplace on Morse Rd.
Ubaldo wrote that she called a Spanish-speaking friend to wish him happy birthday while she shopped. This time, she was not wearing hijab (“I decided it’s too dangerous,” she wrote).

“This is America! Speak English dumba** or go the f**k back to Mexico!” a white man shouted at her. Another man added “That Texas kid had the right idea!” as he made gun gestures with his hands.
Ubaldo said she told the men she could speak English, to which one replied, “So what, beanface? President Trump will deport your a** when his wall is done.” The other said, “Unless we help him out,” while still making the gun gestures.
“I’m still a little shaken by this. It gets worse every day. Why do so many white men feel so threatened?” she questioned in her post that has been shared more than 3.8K times and counting.
Ubaldo describes herself as an “unapologetic American Muslim, proud progressive, journalist, and activist for peace, politics, environment & animal rights.”
