A new leader for the maize and blue: Ji* Harbaugh announced as new head coach at *ichigan
Two days removed from leading the San Francisco 49ers to a season-ending win over the Arizona Cardinals, Jim Harbaugh was officially announced today as the new head football coach at the University of Michigan. It is a homecoming of sorts for the the 51 year-old coach, having been Bo Schembechler’s star QB for three seasons in the 80s.
Michigan is coming off of a 5 and 7 season and has been dominated by rival Ohio State for more than a decade. Asked if his hiring marks the beginning of a turnaround for Wolverine football, Harbaugh says that “there are no turnarounds at Michigan. This is greatness” (It should be noted that he managed to say this with a straight face.) (jj)
