Boo on a Budget: Columbus ranks among top 25 cheapest cities to date

New threads, flowers, Ubers, dinners, drinks, concerts, sporting events, movies… It’s no surprise that dating can take a real toll on the ol’ checkbook. But luckily, you live in one of the cheapest cities for those hunting for a honey.

According to SmartAsset, Columbus cracked the top 25 for budget-friendly dating. We snagged the 24th spot with Ohio cities Toledo (#23) and Cincinnati (#9) ranking above. Madison, Wisconsin came in as the cheapest city for singles who are looking to mingle.

To determine the list, SmartAsset analyzed the following cost for the 100 largest cities in the U.S.:

  • Cost of two cappuccinos. Data comes from Numbeo and was pulled in September 2019.
  • Cost of two beers. Data comes from Numbeo and was pulled in September 2019.
  • Cost of a three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant. Data comes from Numbeo and was pulled in September 2019.
  • Average income after income taxes and rent. Data is from the Census Bureau and is for 2017.
