Columbus Zoo says goodbye to endangered tiger

In unfortunate news out of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, animal health staff made the difficult decision to euthanize on of the zoo’s Amur tigers due to complications from leukemia. The news was shared yesterday on the Zoo’s Facebook page:

Irisa, the 15-year-old Amul tiger, came to the Columbus zoo from the Louisville Zoo. The species is considered “critically endangered,” with fewer than 400 known to be living in the wild.
