Columbus Police launch program to strengthen connection to minorities

Columbus City Council President Andrew Ginther and Columbus Police Chief Kimberly Jacobs today announced a new outreach initiative intended to enhance the police department’s relationship with various minority groups. The officers leading the program will work the LGBT, African-American and New American communities using already existing resources to to bring about a greater sense of trust and stronger communication between the police and those groups. All of this will be in addition to the officers’ otherwise typical day-to-day duties. (jj)
