614 Events: Sept. 18-Sept. 24, 2020
Organizations are finding increasingly creative ways to welcome visitors online, but there are also opportunities to get out and about while still observing COVID-19 safety protocols, as is evident from this week’s events calendar.
Every Tuesday and Friday (Sept. 18 and 22), Pearl Market—The Pearl Market is a farmer’s market full of fresh foods, and it’s open through Oct. 16. Sept. 18, CelebrateOne 1st Birthday Drive-Thru—CelebrateOne, a city effort to reduce infant mortality in Columbus, is hosting a free, socially-distanced birthday party for babies who have or are turning one in 2020. Masks and pre-registration are required for those who want to pick up their “party in a bag,” and those wishing to register can do so here.
Sept. 18, Fitness Yoga on the Square—Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy socially distanced, outdoor yoga at Easton Town Center at 8:30 a.m.
Sept. 18-Sept. 20, Landmarks Open Their Doors—Staffers from the Ohio History Center will be conducting a series of online tours of some of the state’s historical sites, including areas that are normally off-limits to the public. The full itinerary can be found here.
Sept. 18-Sept. 24, Free Comic Book Summer—Laughing Ogre on High Street is one of several comic book stores participating in Free Comic Book summer. Publishers are making around six new titles available every week, so check with the store before heading over and grabbing the free merch.

Sept. 18 North Market Night Market—The North Market Night Market from 6 to 9 p.m. is one of the oldest and largest in Central Ohio. Quickie Dips LLC will be selling gourmet blended dry rubs, dips, and no-bake dessert mixes. COVID precautions, including wearing face masks, will be observed.
Sept. 19, Doo Dah Parade—Line up (cars only, no walkers) begins at noon on Park & Buttles. Less-Than-Grand Marshal 2020: Grandma Joy & Grandson Brad Ryan will join the parade. Organizers ask those in the parade to wear a mask and social distance. No spectators lining the street. Sept. 19, KidsLinked.com’s Westerville KidsFest & Cookout Drive-Thru—Families can drive through the parking lot at Westerville Christian Church while making brief stops to visit vendors or play games. Belle and Woody from “Toy Story” will be there. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for visitors to purchase, and there are free giveaways for the first 100 cars to arrive after 5 p.m. For more details, visit the event’s website here.
Sept. 24, Nocterra Run Club—Runners of all abilities (which includes those walking) are meeting Thursdays outside of Columbus Running Company in Powell at 6:15 p.m. to join fellow fitness enthusiasts to travel the couple miles to the finish line at Nocterra, where they can refresh with a beer.
Sept. 24, Franklin Park Conservatory Vulnerable Population Hours—For those needing to take special precautions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens opens at 9 a.m. on Thursdays for guests with high-risk considerations, such as seniors or people with compromised immune systems. General admission visitors can enter starting at 10 a.m. Tickets should be reserved prior to a visit and can be purchased online.
