Former Buckeye coaches tackle the topic of COVID-19

Former Ohio State football coaches Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer have teamed up to remind Ohioans of the importance of following health department recommendations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There are moments in life when all the greats are tested,” says Meyer in the video released Tuesday.

“But they persevere, adapt, and never, ever give up,” continues Tressel.

From there, the national championship-winning coaches extol the efforts of state residents in combating the coronavirus and encourage them to continue social distancing, wearing masks, and washing their hands.

“Ohio, when we stick together, we always win,” Meyer says directly into the camera, before Tressel adds, “It’s up to all of us.”

Ohio has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases over the past few days, and Gov. Mike DeWine has publicly worried about a rough winter. In addition to the measures touted by the former OSU coaches, DeWine has recommended getting a flu shot in order to avoid sick people from overtaxing medical systems in the coming months.

There will be free coronavirus testing available in Columbus on Thursday, Oct. 15. Those wishing to be screened can go to PrimaryOne Health at 2300 W. Broad St. from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
