Celebrate National Gluten-Free Day with us
Columbus, hats off to those of you who follow restrictive diets.
Regardless of why you’re doing it, cutting out certain foods can be hard. Particularly challenging, of course, is finding gluten-free food—this writer was gluten-free for over a year, and can now best be described as teetering on gluten-cautious.
So to celebrate National Gluten-Free Day, we’ve rounded up a list of some great gluten-free finds across Columbus. Some places are exclusively gluten-free, while others offer specific items that may or may not be prepped in a common kitchen with the risk of gluten exposure. We tried to be specific when possible, but you’ll want to verify how the food is prepared just to be sure.
Regardless, we hope this list gives you a wide range of options to celebrate accordingly.

For breakfast:
If you’re craving some pancakes, head to the Original Pancake House in either Upper Arlington or Westerville. Items are all prepared in the same kitchen, but all waffles and a majority of their pancakes can be prepared gluten-free.
To continue on the sweets train, the Dipped Donut in Delaware has a gluten-free pre-order menu, and Cherbourg Bakery in Bexley and Bake Me Happy at 106 E. Moler St. are two gluten-free bakery options. Some items at Pattycake Bakery in Clintonville are gluten-free as well.
For lunch and dinner:
Choripan Argentine Grill, 5927 Karric Square Dr. in Dublin, is a gluten- and grain-free outfit offering sandwiches, salads, soups, empanadas, and more. Beginning Thursday, Jan. 13, look for their special, a gluten-free pizza with cheese, Chipotle chicken, chorizo, and veggies.
For wraps, salads, soups, quesadillas and more, look to Portia’s Cafe, 4428 Indianola Ave., which uses ingredients that are naturally gluten-free. They also have some really great breakfast options.
Sometimes you just want a burger, and one without the bun just won’t do. Check out Preston’s Burgers, which has gluten-free burgers as well as tenders, nuggets, and fried chicken available by prep segregation. Bareburger also has gluten-free buns, although their gluten-free items are prepared in a common kitchen.
For another burger option, check out the Bucket Burger at Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern, which can be made gluten-free. Other gluten-free options include the Double Stacked Quesadilla, the Blackened Salmon, and the New York Cheesecake.
Cap City Fine Diner and Bar, with locations in Gahanna, Grandview, and Dublin, has a menu that’s gluten-free friendly, with several starters, a variety of salads, and large plates. The restaurant’s sandwiches can also be served on a gluten-free bun.
Gluten-free items at the The Guild House, 624 N. High St, include Steak Tartare, Beet Salad, and Pacifico Striped Bass, as well as several gluten-free sides.
If you have a hankering for Italian fare, head to Marcella’s, which is able to make all its pastas and pizza gluten-free. To order carryout, just check out the gluten-free section when ordering online at either the Polaris or Short North locations.
For authentic Asian cuisine, check out Molly Woo’s in Polaris, which has over 30 gluten-free friendly offerings.
Whatever you choose for your meal, you can wash it all down with a libation from Rolling Mill Brewing Co., a Middletown gluten-free brewery.
