Last call at 4am?
Let’s just say that hypothetically you’re out at a bar watching the NBA Finals and your favorite basketball team wins their first championship…ever. Wouldn’t it be great if you could stay out later partying with your pals without someone shouting “LAST CALL” at 2am? Or what if it was New Year’s Eve? Or some other big special event when you just wanted the party to last a little longer?
In the State Senate, a provision in the proposed budget bill would allow last call to be moved back to 4am. This wouldn’t be every night, but it would be on the occasion of “major events.” For purposes of the bill, the “major event” would have to be in a city with at least 350,000 people (sorry, Circleville) with no fewer than 3,000 people in attendance.
The bill is currently under consideration. (jj)
