Detroit-style pizza is coming to this local arcade
For Ben Morgan, Old North Arcade revolves around nostalgia, and the feeling you got when you stayed up late at a friend’s sleepover playing video games.
Morgan’s latest venture fits right in with that theme.
“It would be unthinkable to eat anything else other than pizza,” he said.

To that end, Square Slice Pizzeria will be opening Friday the 13th inside the Old North Arcade. The space will be open Thursday through Sunday.
While Old North Arcade previously housed Forty’s Chicken & Waffles, Morgan said it was a casualty of the pandemic. Instead of reopening it, he decided to try something new.
“We wanted to have something that was more reasonable, for like a true lunch and dinner service,” he said, as well as catering events like birthdays and corporate things.
Morgan also owns an Old North Arcade in Huntington, West Virginia, and Square Slice Pizza opened inside that location this past June.
“It’s been a big hit,” he said.
The pizza at both locations is Detroit style, with a focaccia-style crust. The whole milk mozzarella and provolone cheeses melt over the sides, creating a carmelized, crispy cheese crust around the entire pizza. Morgan also uses pepperoni from Ezzo Sausage Co. and old world sausage. The pizzas are roasted in a stone-fired oven and topped with fresh basil, Pecorino Romano, and hot honey.
Square Slice will be open here from 4 p.m. to midnight Thursday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, noon to 1 a.m. Saturday, and noon to midnight Sunday. For more info, visit squareslicepizzeria.com.
