Blue Jackets anthem singer going to the MLB All Star Game

You may think that Blue Jackets anthem singer Leo Welsh has a lot of downtime during the NHL offseason. Not true.

Welsh, a performer with Opera Columbus, has been a part of CBJ festivities since the 2003-2004 season and has been the team’s full-time singer since the 2006-2007 season. Earlier this year, his talents put Leo in front of a huge audience, singing the Canadian national anthem prior to the NHL All Star Game at Nationwide Arena. And his reputation in the sports world goes beyond hockey. This weekend, he’ll perform the Star Spangled Banner at Kentucky Speedway before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400. And it’s just been announced that next week Leo will be at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati singing the Canadian anthem before the MLB All Star Game.

Congratulations, LEO!  (jj)
