The Queer Community Mic is back on Wednesday, June 12th for Pride 2019! This year, we’re partnering with Wild Goose Creative to celebrate the reason for the season: the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Bring your poetry, music, comedy, stories, dance routines–basically anything you can do on stage that’s safe and legal. Doors open at 7:30, show starts at 8:00 (as always, if you want to sign up to perform, we recommend arriving on time). Afterwards, stick around for social hour, make a friend, and take in the artwork from Wild Goose’s gallery show for the month of June: Chomatic: LGBTQ+ Experience in Columbus.
This month our featured act is none other than poet extraordinaire, viral sensation, and co-founder of this very show: Rachel Wiley! Author of two books of poetry (2014’s “Fat Girl Finishing School”, and 2018’s “Nothing is Okay”), Rachel’s work delves into topics of queerness, fatness, feminism, dating, and race. The finished product is simultaneously scorching cultural critique and unwavering celebration of self.
UPDATE: Wild Goose will be having extra gallery hours for Chromatic: LGBTQ+ Experience in Columbus, from 5:30 – 7:30. So show up early, take in some art, and stay for the show.
