Blue Bell takes it all off

Earlier this month, select Blue Bell ice cream products were recalled because of a possible Listeria contamination (after five deaths in Kansas were possibly linked to it). But after further testing of their products, Blue Bell has decided to recall all their ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, etc. Blue Bell CEO and president Paul Kruse said in a statement:

“We’re committed to doing the 100 percent right thing, and the best way to do that is to take all of our products off the market until we can be confident that they are all safe.”Screen Shot 2015-04-21 at 8.34.19 AM

Previously, Blue Bell recalled 3oz cups of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream (→), as well as their pints and half gallon ice creams over possible Listeria. (deb)

Ice cream recall following deaths in Kansas

Major grocery retailers including Kroger, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club are pulling Blue Bell branded ice creams from store shelves. The move comes after the Texas-based dairy company’s acknowledgement of a problem with their production lines in Oklahoma. Blue Bell ice cream contaminated with the bacteria listeriosis has been connected to the deaths of three people in Kansas.  (jj)
