Buddy the Elf probably got his candy cane from an Ohio company

Those candy canes we started eating today for #ChristmasEveEve were probably made in Ohio. Byran-based Spangler Candy Company is one of only two major companies still making candy canes in the US (the other being Ferrera). Evan Brock, spokesman for the Spangler said, “We make just about 50 percent of our candy canes here in Ohio.” That’s 50 percent of the 500 million candy canes they make every year (since 1954). Brock also said that they work year-round to make them and have even started on next year’s back in November.

I guess that means I can say eating candy canes is my effort to stimulate the state’s economy, so excuse my while I go stir my hot chocolate with a pepperminty economic booster.
