Because of problems that have continued with the city’s fire department and police division, the Columbus safety director has been slammed with criticism from the mayor and other elected officials in the past week. Mitchell J. Brown told his office of his decision to resign Thursday morning, according to the Dispatch. Some of the complaints he received were about the DNA evidence mishandling, ignored citizen complaints along with police dashboard cams having issues. Mayor Michael Coleman even wrote Brown a letter criticizing the way that some 311 calls went ignored.
