City attempting to curb areas with high infant mortality

Some areas of Columbus have alarmingly high infant mortality rates. So high that south Linden’s rates are three times that of the nation. Wednesday morning, leaders are set to announce three specific “hot spots” for these high rates and are assigning a team to work within those spots to lower the rate. Erika Clark Jones who is currently the deputy director of the city’s Community Relations Commission and leader of South Side revitalization has been chosen to lead the effort and plans to connect with the residents, and local leaders to help fight an increasing issue of children dying before their first birthday.
