Coleman trying to fight abandoned properties
Mayor Michael Coleman wants to put an end to abandoned and vacant properties by slapping a $1,000 fine for any unsafe commercial properties. Not just $1,000, but $1,000 per day. “If property owners are unwilling to take responsibility, we will hold them accountable,” he said, the Dispatch reported. If approved by the city council the new law would make it more difficult for owners to drag out the process of being a “nuisance” to the city.
