Celebrate and thank a veteran

Today, of all days, is one to thank a veteran. To shake a hand and to celebrate those who have dedicated their lives to serve in the forces. It’s Veterans Day.

Veterans Day has largely been known as a day to support those who served the country. People will shake the hands of armed service men and women. There will be parades and memorials across the country for those lost in battle and many local businesses have created specials just for veterans. In a way to thank the men and women in the armed services, many are giving away free meals, giving discounts and other special rates.

Eddie George’s Grille 27 are giving out free burgers to vets. Max & Erma’s will be serving up free “America’s Best Cheeseburger Combo” to veterans. The Wexner Center is granting free admission. Starbucks is handing out free tall coffee brews to both the vets and their spouses. IHOP is giving out free breakfasts. Applebee’s, California Pizza Kitchen and Chili’s won’t make vets pay today either.

Through promotions aimed specifically at veterans, many businesses both local and national have made it an effort to show support in the way they can. Support for Veterans Day has increased since 9/11 and as people are reminded of their importance. Break out the flag, shake a hand and remember to thank veterans for all they have done.
