Are ‘green’ energy options still there? You bet
When the bill was passed to put a two year freeze on alternative energy standards, the “green” energy options looked like they had a ticking life. Even with the law, every electricity provider in Ohio (expect one) has decided to continue their renewable energy programs and that includes AEP and Duke Energy, according to the Dispatch. The giant slap to alternative energy might not be so big after all and all those lovely windmills will continue to keep turning (for now). “It’s not Armageddon,” Pablo Vegas, president and chief operating officer of AEP Ohio, said, the paper reported. “We didn’t dive off the cliff as some of the opponents said we were going to.” Opponents of the bill had panicked when the bill passed, thinking that all utilities would drop renewable energy sources.
