Attorney still arguing ruling at sentencing
For nearly an hour during his sentencing hearing, lawyer Javier Armengau argued against the conviction, the testimonies and the jury. “The jury lost its way. They got it wrong,” he said, the Dispatch reported. During his speech he again asserted he had never sexually assaulted a woman in his life. “I am convinced that the challenges that you have, the demons you may possess, your insatiable sexual appetite — those things have brought you to this courtroom,” Judge David W. Fais said. Armengau though did not think justice was served and spoke against a system he had long worked for as a lawyer.
