Balloon creations all grown up at gallery hop
After Red, White and BOOM, after the Fourth of July parties and after the possible hangover, there is still gallery hop. Even with all the weekend’s festivities, gallery hop will go on as usual and Saturday a select few high school students who have been studying at CCAD for the summer will display their balloon artwork. Under their mentor for the program, Jason Hackenwerth who is a visual artist known for working with balloons, the students have created their own interactive pieces of art. Hackenwerth calls the pieces “megamites” and they look similar to microscopic organisms blown up to sizes bigger than humans.
