In limbo: Uber + Lyft drivers apply for license
While 142 drivers around the city have applied for the license they must have to legally work (and drive) for an app based car pick up service, the city hasn’t dolled out the licenses yet…even though as of Thursday, the mustachioed drivers around town need them to be legal. Thus far none of the requests have been granted, and the city says it’s because it needs to vet the applicants and that could take days, the Dispatch reported. The Uber and Lyft drivers who have applied are in limbo for a bit until they are approved. The city though, has told the companies it won’t stop drivers until Sept. 5 if they drive without the new license, but after that it would be a first-degree misdemeanor.
