School’s out: Bishop Ready still out after gas leak

Bishop Ready is closed today after a gas leak Thursday that sent the students home early. The gas leak is still being repaired and students will get another day out. Thursday, students were at first kept in the school for in-school evacuation but because of the impending weather and possibility of wind and lightning the fire department had the students sent home.

After a serious gas leak was discovered, the intersection at West Mound Street and South Brinker Avenue has been evacuated, and Bishop Ready High School was evacuated as well. Police, firefighters and people from Columbus Gas responded around 10 a.m. to the area. At first the students were in the gym at the school, but have now been sent home because the leak could take hours to fix, according to NBC4. No injuries have been reported.
