Local firefighters to the rescue…to California’s rescue

A wildfire has ripped through Sacramento, leaving a charred trail of 70,000 acres. Local wildland firefighters geared up in Reynoldsburg on Tuesday to leave for California to help battle the flames that by Thursday afternoon was only 5 percent contained. The group wasn’t the first one to leave Ohio though to help out with the fire across the county. The 20 firefighters were the third group to depart from the Buckeye state. “Ohio has a good track record for training and experience with local and out-of-state wildland fire suppression,” Robert Boyles of Ohio Department of Natural Resources, said in a release.
