Man charged in bicyclist accident that led to one death

A man was charged Tuesday with the accident that led to the death of one bicyclist and the injury of another while both were walking their bikes. According to the Dispatch, a driver hit Ana Maria Illescas-Gallegos (who was pronounced dead at the scene), then sideswiped a tree and then finally hit Verulo Valladares in northeast Columbus. According to a police complaint, the man, Scott Haslehurst had been drinking before the accident. He has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault.

Bicyclists injured in accident, one dead, one in hospital

An accident in North Columbus Sunday night resulted in the death of one bicyclist and another in the hospital at Grant Medical Center. Both were hit by a car, and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. One was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, according to officers.
