OSU joins study to improve medical treatment through sensors
Think of all those miles you run, or the moments when you attempt to pick the healthier food. There are apps, there are running bracelets, there are charts and other tools to help with all of those daily decisions about health. Ohio State has joined a team of 11 universities in attempt to create body sensors tracking all of those things, and then funneling that information toward improved health care. Armed with $10.8 million from the National Institutes of Health, Ohio State is attempting to that take data and attempt to curb patients with heart failure, according to the Dispatch. Northwestern is looking to take that data and prevent patients from smoking again once they have already stopped. Sensors have been created to take in the data like physical activity, stress levels, heart function and more.
