Stealing an air conditioner = violation of Clean Air Act
Stealing an air conditioner isn’t just theft. It’s a violation of the Clean Air Act, and one Columbus man had to find that out the hard way. Martin C. Eldridge III, 35, stole air conditioners in order to purchase drugs, and Thursday he was sentenced to two years in prison. That was what happened in federal court. When he (and others) stole the units they would cut the tubing and release Freon into the air. Thursday he also went to the Franklin County Common Pleas Court where he pleaded guilty for theft and possession of drugs.
