The Defender, a personal protection tool that acts as pepper spray, a camera to take a photo of an assailant, an alarm and is able to send information to law enforcement is about the size of an oversized pen and has launched a campaign starting in Columbus. The video features downtown Columbus and the Scioto Riverfront that launched Tuesday on Indiegogo (basically like Kickstarter as a crowdfunding site). The company hopes to begin creating the product for shipment by the end of the year. The product is free, but the service which monitors the device 24/7 will cost users $15 a month, according to Columbus Business First.
