Buckeye head coach out after female hockey players allege harassment

Ohio State women’s ice hockey head coach Nate Handrahan has resigned. The Columbus Dispatch reports that the resignation came on Monday with Handrahan otherwise facing the likelihood of being fired. According to reports, the coach and one of his assistants missed the team’s bus to the airport on a recent trip to North Dakota, eventually showing up smelling of alcohol and behaving inappropriately. (He later apologized to the team.) Other complaints about the coach have involved allegations of sexual harassment with inappropriate comments made to players. One repeated complaint dealt with the coach’s direction for his female players to “get horny for the puck.”  (jj)
