Buckeyes look for the season’s first win (and some payback) tonight

The Ohio State Buckeyes begin their pursuit of another national championship tonight when they play on the road at Virginia Tech.

Coach Urban Meyer on Saturday kept to his plan of informing only J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones which of them would be starting at QB for the Buckeyes. Meyer’s desire has been for the rest of us to find out his choice when the team takes the field at Lane Stadium. And so far, he’s getting his wish as no one (at least the media) has been tipped to his selection.

The Buckeyes are anxious to not just put the first mark in their 2015 win column, but also to enact some payback against the Hokies who upset Ohio State one year ago with a 35 – 21 win.

Its Ohio State vs Virginia Tech tonight at 8 on ESPN.

GO BUCKS!

Previous: Coach hopes to keep starting QB a surprise from the team 9/4/15

Coach Urban Meyer continues to say that the competition to be the starting quarterback when the Buckeyes take the field on Monday night is a tight one. Time and again, he’s said that the match-up between J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones is “close.” According to Meyer, that continues to be the case, even after Jones’ late night trip to the emergency room this week with an apparent migraine. (Urban says that Cardale is doing fine and has not missed any practice.)

The Buckeye coach says that on Saturday he’ll reveal to both men which of them will start the game vs Virginia Tech. It’s his hope that neither of them will reveal to anyone else his decision. Meyer told a call-in radio show on Thursday that he doesn’t even plan to tell the rest of the team. His desire is for everyone to learn who will be starting when that player takes the field Monday night.  (jj)
