Changes ahead for Memorial Tournament
Jack Nicklaus and organizers of the Memorial Tournament announced a series of changes today that they expect will continue to make the PGA event a top draw for the greatest golfers in the world.
One of the biggest changes is an increase in the prize purse. Beginning next year, the winner will receive $1.62 million. (That’s nearly $500,000 more than this year’s winner took home.) Also, the total purse will climb to $8.5 million with additional increases of $200,000 each year through 2021.
Another note for the winner…that person will now receive a 3-year PGA tour exemption…up from the previous two.
