J.T. Barrett named Buckeyes’ starting QB

footballnowOhio State head coach Urban Meyer told reporters on Tuesday that J.T. Barrett will be the team’s starting QB this weekend when the Buckeyes take on Rutgers. Meyer said that taking the starting role away from Cardale Jones was a “difficult decision” but that Barrett had earned the role with his performance in last week’s match-up with Penn State.

As for Cardale’s role new role with the team, Meyer says that he anticipates that it will be much as Barrett’s has been in backing-up Jones…minus being handed the ball in the red zone.

The Buckeyes take on Rutgers on the road this weekend. It’s an 8pm start Saturday night.  (jj)
