Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard has signed a 5-year extension with the team keeping him in Columbus through the 2020-2021 season.
Savard is coming off of a career-best season with stats including 11 goals and 25 assists.
“Getting David signed to a contract extension was a priority for us and we are very happy to have reached a long-term deal with him. He has taken tremendous steps the past two seasons and responded very well to the larger role he played on our blueline last season. We are excited about his future with the Blue Jackets.”
– CBJ General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen
Even aside from his new deal, the off-season has been kind to Savard. He won gold as part of Team Canada in the 2015 IIHF World Championship. (jj)
