Near record prices for Ohio State / Michigan State tickets
It’s always a big deal when Ohio State takes the field. But Saturday’s game vs Michigan State appears to be on a whole different level. The Buckeyes sit atop the Big Ten conference at 6 and 0. The Spartans are nipping at their heels at 5 and 1. Both are top ten teams in the College Football Playoff rankings (Ohio State #3, Michigan State #9). The game has brought ESPN to town for a LIVE broadcast of their popular Mike & Mike radio show this morning and for College GameDay’s broadcast on Saturday. And most people who don’t have a ticket to the game would desperately love to be there.
The folks at SeatGeek say that the average price of resale tickets for Saturday’s game is $377 each. In terms of Buckeye home games, that price is second only to OSU / Michigan in 2010 when prices averaged $388.
*SeatGeek began tracking prices in 2010.
To be clear, this is not the priciest college match-up of the weekend. That would be Saturday’s Notre Dame / Boston College game at Fenway Park where the average resale price for tickets is…<gulp>…$637. (jj)
