OSU’s D’Angelo Russell makes Pro-active decision
In news that hasn’t really surprised anyone, especially fans of OSU basketball, D’Angelo Russell has decided to go pro. Yesterday afternoon, he told ESPN that he decided to enter the NBA draft. He talked about how much he loves Columbus and appreciates the support from the school and the fans.
“This was a hard decision because I knew I could come back and play with my teammates who I love, and to be coached by coach Thad Matta again would have been awesome, but at the same time I wanted to pursue my dream of playing in the NBA. I know what I am capable of and the sky’s the limit with effort. I know I have a lot to work on.”
Russell’s draft stock rose this year and he might end up in the lottery. He’s considered a top-five draft pick – something that could garner him a salary of $3 million for just his first two seasons. Which, if I’m being honest, is one hell of a payday. (deb)
