*UPDATE* OSU vs VCU

Thursday brought the first full day worth of play in this year’s NCAA basketball tournament and, with it, the first action for the Ohio State Buckeyes. In Portland, Oregon, it was action in the West with 10th-seed OSU taking on 7th-seed VCU.

At one point, the Buckeyes trailed by 12 in the first half but brought it back to within one at halftime (30-29). The two teams were evenly matched in the second half and ended regulation tied at 66 – 66. In the overtime, Ohio State went up for good on a three-pointer by Keita Bates-Diop…going on to win by a final of 75 – 72.

Next up for the Buckeyes, its a Saturday match-up with 2nd-seed Arizona. GO BUCKS!  (jj)

Moving on…

After following up a 6th place conference season with a quarterfinal loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten tournament, Ohio State now looks forward to a 4:40 tip-off on Thursday and their first match-up in the NCAA tournament. The Buckeyes, the 10th seed in the West, travel to Portland, Oregon to take on 7th-seed VCU.

Ohio State’s opponent is coming off of a successful run of games. Virginia Commonwealth has claimed victory in their last five contests including a championship in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.   (jj)
