Walk-through screeners come to Nationwide Arena

ArenaBowlRotatorHockey fans will see something a bit different as they head into Nationwide Arena this season…metal detectors.

The Arena and the CBJ announced today that fans attending games (and other various events) at Nationwide will be checked with walk-through screeners. Guests will be asked to empty their pockets and step through the detectors just like at the airport (minus the shoe hassle).

“This new policy is in line with what has become an industry standard across MLB, NBA and NFL venues and we’re happy to comply with any enhancement aimed at improving customer convenience and safety.”

– Todd Sharrock, CBJ VP of Communications and Team Services

The new security protocols will replace the handheld wands that arena personnel have used since 2013. Hockey fans’ first experience with the new detectors will be September 21st when the Blue Jackets host the Pittsburgh Penguins.  (jj)
