Ohio State’s victory over Oregon in the College Football Championship game set a record Monday night as the most-watched program in the history of cable television.  33.4 million people watched the Buckeyes upset the Oregon Ducks and the predictions of ESPN analyst Mark May.  In Columbus, 51 percent of TV sets were tuned in to the game.  And before you ask what on Earth anyone else might have been watching last night, given the anticipation leading up to the game, I’ll remind you that CBS was airing a new episode of “Mike & Molly.”

Interesting enough, Oregon placed 4th on the ratings list of markets watching the game behind Dayton and Cleveland.  Seems like maybe Duck fans knew well enough to avoid tuning in for their defeat at the hands of Ohio State.  (jj)

Following their thrilling win in Monday night’s championship game, the Buckeyes find themselves ranked #1 in the final AP poll of the season.  No surprise there.  A couple of other pieces of info for Ohio State fans:

*Head coach Urban Meyer, asked if he’s interested in pursuing a job in the NFL, says “Not right now. I’ve got a commitment to Ohio State and these players. I love what I’m doing.”

*Quarterback Cardale Jones is hinting that he’s not leaving for the NFL just yet either.  He says that he hasn’t made a final decision, but that he’s “not ready for that level yet.”  (jj)
