Booze Bell Grande: Taco Bell considers adding alcohol to Columbus menu
Imagine, if you will, a Taco Bell drive-thru in the not-too-distant future…….
Customer: I’ll take a beef chalupa supreme, two chicken soft tacos and an order of nachos.
TB employee: Will there be anything else?
Customer: Yes, sorry. Could I also get a shot of teqila?
TB employee: Absolutely. Please, pull around.
I know that it may sound strange to consider the possibility of ordering alcohol at Taco Bell (especially since it doesn’t contain one of the fast food chain’s two staple ingredients…cheese or sour cream). But it is a possibility.
Taco Bell is about to begin serving alcohol at select stores in Chicago and San Francisco. It will be done as part of a test run and, if it all goes well, beer and liquor sales may pop up at more and more locations around the country. The chain is also looking at expanding the test to include Boston, New York and / or Columbus.
To give you an idea of what beverages would be available, the planned Chicago test Bell will have Dos Equis and New Belgium Brewing Co.’s Fat Tire, red sangria, tequila and vodka. (jj)
