Chipotle_Mexican_Grill_logo.svgWith 80 Boston College students falling ill after having eaten at a Chipotle restaurant, the company’s CEO is apologizing to those customers and to others who have gotten sick after eating at Chipotle this year. (E. coli infections linked to the restaurant chain left 52 people in 9 states sick in recent months.) The Boston issue does not appear to be connected to the earlier incidents.

Chipotle CEO Steve Ells appeared Thursday on NBC’s Today Show:

This was a very unfortunate incident and I’m deeply sorry that this happened, but the procedures we’re putting in place today are so above industry norms that we are going to be the safest place to eat.
