Drexel Theater before rennovationsHaving been named earlier this year to the National Register of Historic Places, the Drexel Theatre has been able to secure financial help from state and federal agencies in bringing the place some contemporary and necessary updates.

With costly renovations planned for Bexley’s brightly lit cinema to update its lobby, theaters and marquee next year, Drexel just received some good news from the Ohio Development Services Agency. Drexel has qualified for $250,000 in tax credits from the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program. This is in addition to $250,000 in tax credits that the movie house had already secured from the federal government.

For Bexley, the Drexel is both a valuable economic driver and a sentimental symbol of our rich history. It is exciting and gratifying to know that our state and federal historic tax entities find its renovation as worthwhile as the Bexley community does.
