The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has renewed a deal with Ohio State worth $52 million. The 4 1/2 year contract keeps OSU in charge of a set of surveys that would surely make Family Feud’s Steve Harvey jealous. They involve roughly 30,000 people, speaking to each of them every two years to learn about various aspects of their lives including:
- workforce behavior
- education
- income
- health
- alcohol and substance abuse
- sexual activity
Ohio State designs the surveys and prepares the data for researchers. The National Opinion Research Center in Chicago collects the data. Some of the people involved in the studies have been interviewed every other year since 1979. (jj)
