Hillary and Rubio join the race

The floodgates appear to have opened with candidates coming from the left and right to join the 2016 race for the White House.

Former Secretary-of-State / former first lady / 2008 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy on Sunday via a pre-recorded video. The video spent half of its length featuring people telling their own stories and offering their plans and hopes for the future. Cue Hillary who enters and “shockingly” reveals that her plans include running for president.

“Everyday Americans need a champion. And I want to be that champion.” – Hillary Clinton

Monday brings us the entry of Republican Marco Rubio. The first-term Florida senator revealed his intentions to donors early in the day. (A public announcement is planned for Monday night.) Rubio’s biggest asset is considered to be his compelling personal story about being the son of Cuban immigrants. He enters a field that already lists fellow Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul as opponents with many more sure to join soon.  (jj)
