Kasich finds reason for holiday cheer in new poll results

It’s not exactly a new bicycle under the tree, but Governor John Kasich did receive a bit of a polling gift this week.

The Republican presidential candidate, struggling to gain traction with voters, has received some encouraging news with results of a recent poll conducted by the American Research Group.

The survey of New Hampshire Republicans shows Kasich in third place, behind only Donald Trump and Marco Rubio. One of the earliest states on the primary calendar, results from the February 9th vote will likely weed out a number of candidates for the party’s presidential nomination. A top-three finish in the state would be looked at as a successful effort.

Here’s a look at the top contenders according to the survey:

Donald Trump   21%

Marco Rubio   15%

John Kasich   13%

Chris Christie   12%

Ted Cruz   10%

On the Democratic side, polling from the same group shows Hillary Clinton leading Bernie Sanders, 46% to 43%. Martin O’Malley registers at 3%.
